The Beginning

Summer 2019

Just before graduating from high school, Timothy took his friend Charlie to a Pirates game where they talked about their upcoming graduation and college plans. Later that same day, I got a message from my cousin Charlie telling me that one of his friends would be attending the same college as me and gave me the snapchat contact for this friend. Someone named Tim... We spent the summer getting to know each other solely through snapchat messages and it didn't take long for us to have a running conversation all the time. All summer my best friend, Nicole, would ask me "what's the deal with this Tim guy", who's name was constantly popping up in my notifications. As far as I was concerned, there was no deal. After all, I had never even met him in person.

Our College Days

August 2019

Move in day at Youngstown State University was on August 15, 2019. After talking all summer through snapchat, we were finally in the same place at the same time. Once our parents left and we were all settled into our dorm rooms, we made plans to meet up (for the first time in person) outside the residence hall. We spent the next few hours walking around campus and talking about everything under the sun and over the moon. Being that neither of us had any other friends on campus yet, we went to all the freshman orientation activities together. We quickly became good friends - eating most of our meals together at the dining hall, meeting up at the rec center rock wall, and watching movies together. After just two weeks on campus, he kissed me and there was no looking back. We started dating "officially" on August 30, 2019. The next four years we spent together. We took many of the same classes and studied together. We ate lunch and dinner together most days. We worked and climbed and the campus rock wall together. We binge-watched our favorite shows together. We walked campus in the evenings and talked. We dreamed of the days when we would be married and living our lives together. We graduated college on May 6, 2023, and both moved back home with our parents. We started working our first "real" jobs and began saving up for the life we knew we'd have one day.

The Proposal

June 30, 2023

We made plans to go celebrate the fact that we had started our new jobs (or at least that's what I thought) for the end of June. We had a reservation at the Le Mont for our special date night. On the way out the door, as she always does, my mom told us to make sure we take a picture of us all dressed up. Little did either her or I know what the evening would hold. We got to the restaurant a little early and walked over to one of the Mount Washington overlooks to take that picture my mom asked for. We looked at the city for a few minutes and scouted out the best person to take a picture of us. When our spontaneous photographer was about to hand the phone back, Tim asked him to take one more picture. Then, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course I said "Yes!" (it was never really a question) and we were engaged!
