Our love story began in South Carolina, back in 2013. Marcus was passing by with some family at an after-hours spot, Lagier was also there with some friends. Some flirtatious banter was exchanged back and forth over whether Lagier would give this stranger her number, a joke they both remember because she never even gave him her real name. She never expected to see him again and never expected him to call. But he called…and they talked for weeks before he eventually drove 178 Miles to meet for their first real date. She was still in school in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and he was still in the military in South Carolina-both knowing their commitments would make the relationship hard, and yet they still connected right away. Even though conflicting plans and complicated schedules worked their very hardest to keep them apart, they somehow always found time for each other. It was rocky at the start, and they actually broke up a bunch of times over the years. They weren’t very good at being broken up, though, and after only a few months they would often check in with each other. An impromptu meeting in 2017 not too far from where they first met, Marcus proposed the first time, Lagier said yes and later called it off, not wanting to leave California. They still remained friends and wished each other the best. 7 years' worth of memories later and they have survived a relationship long-distance, changing careers, moving states, moved in together and introduced 2 furry pups to their home and re-homed them(wasn’t for them), hiking, golfing, Game of Thrones binging and surviving a global pandemic.
Marcus had been planning for months and had been hiding the ring, He wanted the proposal to be perfect.…. Lagier was convinced Marcus didn’t want to get married and moved out, she didn't say goodbye, she just packed her stuff and left. Little did she know he had a firework proposal for the 4th of July that same weekend planned downtown Huntsville. When he came home from work, she was gone. He called her, he texted and even emailed her. She never responded. He messaged her sisters on Instagram and even her Mother. Still no answer. He put his clothes in the cleaners, and let his job know he had an emergency. On a last-minute decision, he returned the ring and upgraded to a different bigger ring, He told the sales lady his situation and she prayed with him that he would win Lagier back. That gave him the hope and faith that it might work out He bought a case of Redbull energy drinks and then drove 8 hours to see if she may talk to him in person. He tracked her Ipad to her mom's house in Charlotte NC. Still unsure of the apartment number- he knocked on several doors before finding Lagier. He told her he was sorry for taking so long, and that he loved her. July 2nd, 2020 Lagier said yes. **The engagement shoot was on July 4th in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina, shot by The groom's sister Depris Ford @housepartyclt...Thank you Pris!!
