Pick up will be at the Marriott along 12th Street between Filbert Street and Market Street. If you are using our transportation, it will leave promptly at 2:40 and 3:00pm for the church. You can either return to the hotel afterward, or stop somewhere for a cocktail before our reception (see our recommendations on our "Explore Philadelphia" tab). The transportation will leave at 5:30 and 5:45pm from the hotel to our reception. Please be sure to give yourself enough to make either of the options offered.
Yes, formal attire is requested.
The ceremony will be in both Greek and English - programs will be provided. At the reception, there will be traditional Greek music, dancing, and even customs like throwing dollar bills at the couple. We invite you to take part in all of it with us!
Our ceremony will begin promptly at 3:30pm.
Parking can be limited in the city, so we recommend taking an Uber or Lyft (readily available in Philly), or using our provided transportation. The church, ceremony, reception and hotel are only about a 10 minute walk from each other if that's more your speed!
Unfortunately, we can only accommodate guests that are specifically indicated on your invitation and within the online RSVP.
In Greece, being asked to be the Koumbara is held in similar high regard to being the Maid of Honor or Best Man in an American wedding. The role has great significance in the Greek Orthodox Church, as the Koumbara plays an active part in the ceremony and is chosen as someone who the newly married couple will look to for guidance throughout their lives together.
