Logan first saw Lauren on one of his regular trips to the UCI gym during his PhD. He spotted a girl doing handstand pushups in the corner, and wanted to talk to her (but didn't because, gym creepin'). He went back to the gym at the exact same time for the next few weeks hoping to see her again, but didnt until... Lauren first met Logan at a UCI all-graduate student party at the go-to UCI restobar. A tall, handsome redhead approached her (in the middle of her conversation with someone else), and semi-yelled, "Youre the girl that does handstand pushups at the gym!" It was crush at first sight. They talked about cycling and parted ways. They later started biking to UCI together, and would talk the entire 40 minute ride there and back regularly. They fell in love while cycling.

Logan and Lauren were traveling around New Zealand and trying to complete as many treks on the South Island as possible. One day, they went for a casual, 4,500-elevation-gain hike and set up camp on a cliff with an amazing view of Mount Cook. The next morning, Logan had to pry Lauren out of her sleeping bag to watch the sunrise. Luckily, she got up and out into the cold morning air because Logan got down on one knee and proposed. She isn't exactly sure what else he said, because she was so excited. Her first words were "No way!" out of surprise, and she quickly clarified that of course, she would want nothing more than to marry him.
