Carlie and Kenna (two of Layne's Maids of Honor) forced Layne to sit down and start swiping through some of the available suitors of Dallas on the Hinge app. Kenna came across Sam's profile and said, "I really think you would like this guy." Kenna sent Sam the 'like' via Hinge and the like was soon returned. Not too long later, a date was set up and the two met at STIRR in Addison for their first date. For being strangers, the mutual friends they had was the biggest shock, and they both went home looking forward to the next date.

Unbeknownst to Layne, Sam had been planning with family and friends for this day for quite a while. Layne thought they were going to dinner at Hotel Drover in Forth Worth so their parents could finally meet. Turns out, they had met months ago! Sam walked Layne to the back outdoor area of the hotel, which is insanely beautiful, and proposed by a beautiful fountain in the most perfect weather. Layne was in such shock that she couldn't even move her body but managed to squeal out a "yes!" Their family and closest friends were there to hug them and take pictures, followed by a big celebration at the home of Layne's aunt and uncle. It was their most favorite day ever!
