We were both working at Dura Supreme when a mutual coworker introduced us. There was an instant attraction but we didn't act on it for a couple years. During that time we became the best of friends, he gave me advice on guys and life issues and I annoyed the crap outta him. Haha. It wasn't until the start of 2016 that we decided to give a relationship a chance.
Joe's never been much for holidays or special occasions so when it was time to watch the ball drop to ring in the new year I planted myself on the couch with the best view in the house. He followed. It confused me at first but I let it go. As the countdown starts I hear him start to tell me all about his new years resolutions and how its going to be a new chapter in our lives and he wants to make the most of it. I'm, at this point, only concerned about the countdown and so I, rudely, was zoning him out. Him saying "I don't want to go another year without changing your name", snapped me back to reality as the clock hit "7". I turned to look as he grabbed my hand and discovered he was on his knee next to me grabbing for a ring box (I'm getting goosebumps just writing this). Completely taken aback I forget all about the countdown I was just moments ago so concentrated on. He asks me to marry him and I let out a cry and say yes. We embrace and kiss and as I feel the tears run down my face and I'm now kissing my FIANCE!, I hear the host on the tv scream ONE! HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I got to start my year off the best way I could ever imagine AND got my new years kiss.
