We were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend, Ali Doland, who thought we had “complimentary vibes.” We met for the first time at a ski themed dinner at a popular venue in Downtown OKC. It was easy to find each other: we were the only people in the restaurant decked from head to toe in ski gear! Renée was immediately attracted to Lawson’s kindness, considerate nature, creativity, sense of humor, and love for the Church. Lawson was intrigued by Renée’s F2B Goldendoodle, Charlie, and wanted to learn more about him. Oh, and she was stunning. 😉 We’ve enjoyed having unpredictable adventures and great conversations ever since.
We were visiting Renée’s family in Southern California, when Lawson suggested going on a date day. We spent the afternoon at a tea room in the middle of beautiful botanical gardens before heading to dinner in Laguna Beach. After watching the sunset and stuffing our bellies with seafood, Lawson pulled out a massive box — “a belated Christmas present.” He had spent weeks crafting a shadowbox with an empty ring stand built into it. At that point, Lawson guided a joyfully overwhelmed Renée down to the sand, dropped on one knee, and proposed with her grandmother’s ring. Renée responded immediately with an emphatic, enthusiastic, “YES!” Afterwards, we went swing dancing to celebrate dancing through life together.
This hasn't happened yet, so we’re not really sure what this story will look like … but we can’t wait to find out. And we hope it will include you being there! If there is anything we can do for you in the lead up to the day, please don't hesitate to reach out. Y'all mean so much to us and we can't wait to celebrate with you soon!
