We first met working for WinShape Camps during the summer of 2021. We met on the campus of Berry College in Rome, GA, and my first impression was, "He's SO tall..." When we met, we instantly made the connection that Ethan went to Valdosta State at the time, and Valdosta was my hometown. We bonded over how good Red Owl Coffee was, and to this day, we are still huge coffee people! I was the Worship Leader for our team, and Ethan was the Media Specialist. Naturally, our jobs aligned to where we spent a ton of time together. One of those times included leading worship together on the beach in Savannah, GA. We were practicing one night at the hotel while I was singing and Ethan was playing the guitar, and both of us just kinda stopped and stared at each other. It was like we were meant to sing together. Now, we were both there to work, not to find love, but I hear that love comes when you least expect it. There was one night at the hotel where a bunch of our team members went to go see a movie, but a couple of us stayed back. Ethan and I were two of the ones who stayed back. I remember Ethan and I sitting together in the lobby, and I had the show, "Gossip Girl" pulled up on my laptop. Ethan sat with me and watched the episode, and somehow, a conversation came up about how we liked each other. We both tried to ignore it since we were not allowed to date during the summer, but once the summer was over, we sat by each other on the plane back to Valdosta. After that, we spent 3 weeks getting to know each other outside of the camp world. I was so thankful that we still liked each other outside of camp and didn't have "camp goggles" as they call it. Then that began our journey of long distance dating. Through many FaceTime calls, sweet Venmo surprises, and back and forth 6 hour drives, we spent 2.5 years of our relationship doing long distance. We even had to navigate dating internationally when I was in Costa Rica, and he was in Brazil. Fast forward to October 2023, I was teaching in Birmingham, and Ethan had JUST moved to his new place in Atlanta. I get a call one day from Ethan saying that he got an interview with Samford Athletics. I remember this day so vividly, and I knew that this was an answered prayer. In the Lord's perfect timing, Ethan got the job and made the move to Birmingham. Finally, we are together in Birmingham with the longest distance being from the couch to the kitchen! We love to play tennis, play pickleball, cook, travel to new places, watch reality TV, and of course, walk our precious puppy, Duke. We love our little family, and we are so thankful to spend every day together.
