We met in the hallways of high school — Our Savior — but then it was nothing more then soft smiles and an occasional “hey” when ever we passed one another. When we were finally introduced, it was after school. I had detention and he was in the schools art club. It was our teacher Mr. Ramspott who introduced us. He was one of most creative art students, and I was the writer. We talked for a little while and soon realized we had alot in common; in art, music anime and so much more. Oh my god, finally I wasn’t the only one who downloaded Anime songs to my ipod and listened to it on my way to school! We said our goodbye’s and left to go home. Who would’ve known that day would open the door to a relationship and lead us here — 8 years later about to marry my best friend — I know me either.
It was the day after Christmas - still very much Christmas - when he, with the help of our best friend Tyrella [Best Woman] proposed. He had picked out my ring the 23, and called me to get dressed, we were going out to dinner with Ty and going to take a friend-mas photo. We drove to a christmas light showing in upstate New York, but due to Covid it was drive-thru only. So we drove off, driving through New Rochelle until we found it. Sitting by itself decorated in Christmas lights and a Christmas Tree, sat a Gazebo. The Gazebo. Tyrella said LJ and I should stand back to back for the photo and when everything was perfect, he called my name. I turned, only to stand in silence as I watched the love of my life, my best friend on one knee, ring in hand asking me to be his wife. I cried, duh - i actually walked away, humming “yes” - so obviously it wasn’t like the ones on IG. Nah baby this was real life, and I wouldn’t change it. No matter how cringy my crying was! Would you call it a Fairytale? What about a Romanic Love Comedy. Actually, how about both? To be honest, i can’t wait to see where we go next, but i’m happy to just be spending it with my best friend.
