Question

So: covid..?

Answer

So that we may safely have the celebration we've been waiting for, we strongly recommend and prefer that all eligible guests attending be fully vaccinated. We respectfully request that unvaccinated guests get tested and receive negative results within the 3 days before our wedding. While we are taking precautions, we completely support guests in deciding if they are comfortable coming and in their decisions to take any other measures (e.g. distancing, masking) that feel right. Please contact us with any questions.

Is this going to be *IN* Laura's parents' house?!

Answer

All events will be outdoors! The ceremony and cocktail hour will be completely outside (or tented in case of rain), and the reception will be tented. The bathrooms and kitchen are outside too - we will have a restroom trailer and a caterer with a fully outdoor kitchen. We know we're putting some faith in Mother Nature in having an outdoor event, so cross your fingers for us and wear whatever you need to feel comfortable being outside on grass.. which brings us to the next question -

What should I wear?

Answer

Cocktail attire - long and short dresses, suits, etc, are all great. Let's get fancy and take fun pictures together. We will be on grass and have some uneven ground, so please choose whatever footwear you would be comfortable in. Bring an extra layer for when the sun goes down. And if it rains really hard... bring boots and let's have a party!

Are kids welcome?

Answer

For babies and tots - because we're outside and have a band, we know this is not the most small child-friendly atmosphere - please make whatever decision is easiest for you in whether to bring them, and just let us know what you decide and who all are coming by September 4. We will be completely outside and there will be a loud band (in case you need to bring ear protection). We only have a restroom trailer but could set up some kind of parents' area for breastfeeding etc if requested. Also, kids under 12 are welcome to have a children's meal - if your child would like one, please contact Laura to make sure this is noted for the caterer.

Will there be transportation to and from the hotel for hotel guests?

Answer

Yes! A bus will pick up hotel guests at 4:15pm from the hotel in Hunt Valley, and make two departures from the reception: 9:00pm and 10:00pm. If you're not a hotel guest but would be interested in this, please reach out as soon as possible and we'll work something out. Uber is also generally available to call to Monkton, but you may need to wait longer than you would in Hunt Valley or closer to the city - order it 15-20 minutes before you need it. Please bring masks for the shuttle ride to and from the wedding.

What about parking?

Answer

We will have parking in the field to the right of the driveway, and will have a golf cart for those who would prefer a ride to the ceremony site over a walk up the gravel driveway. Parking space is somewhat limited; riding together where possible would be a big help.

Can I take pictures?

Answer

We'd like our photographer to be able to get the best shots she can during the ceremony, so are asking that our friends and family do not use cell phones or cameras during that part. But please take lots of pictures at the cocktail hour and reception! #lawnparty

Is there an after party?!

Answer

Everyone is welcome to join us at the Polo Bar at the Delta Marriott Hunt Valley after the wedding. Because this venue is public and indoors, we will reassess this plan in September.

Why "lawn party"?

Answer

Laura + Shawn = Lawn. And conveniently, we are having a party on a lawn. It's a LawnParty in more than one way.
