Kaitlyn & Kyle first met in 2013 during the first semester of their Sophomore year at Quinnipiac University. They lived in the same building and had been introduced to each other while reconnecting with friends during their first weekend back at school. Kyle was struck by how unique & beautiful Kaitlyn was to him, and decided to make an effort to get to know her a bit better during the first week of classes as he felt that there was something special about this girl he had just met. Fate would seemingly take Kyle’s side that week and despite the differences in their Majors, Kaitlyn & Kyle ended up in the same History class. On the first day of class, Kyle plucked up the courage to say hello to Kaitlyn & was met with a matched, “Hi” along with Kaitlyn’s trademark awkward smile that Kyle had yet to know he would grow to love. At this time, though, Kyle figured Kaitlyn was not interested & they remained just friends. As time went on Kaitlyn & Kyle’s lives intertwined at QU while they remained preoccupied with their school work and social life. There were many times when Kyle wondered how he should approach Kaitlyn, but the thought of that awkward moment in History class had convinced him to have his doubts… until they both found themselves visiting their friend (now Officiant), Matt White’s, vacation home in Lincoln, New Hampshire during the summer of 2015. While on top of a mountain, they took a picture with friends & Kaitlyn said that Kyle looked cute! Looking back, it is funny how trivial interactions could change the course of destiny, but this was enough to erase Kyle’s doubts about their first interaction years ago. And so they began to grow closer leading into their Senior year. Kyle continued to pursue Kaitlyn throughout their final first semester of college while Kaitlyn was focused on her future career as an occupational therapist. Kyle made an effort to spend as much time as he could with Kaitlyn. He made sure their dates involved some of Kaitlyn’s favorite things like eating pizza, watching School of Rock & trying new restaurants. They were graduating in May of 2016 and they both needed to start their adult lives, however, as time went on that year they fell more & more in love. After graduation, Kaitlyn & Kyle continued to maintain their now long distance relationship, lasting 4 years spent traveling hours via car, ferry, plane or train to see each other as much as possible between Long Island & MA. They refused to let their circumstances get in the way of the love that they had for each other. Kyle & Kaitlyn saw how difficult it was to sustain their long distance relationship & realized their dream of living together in NY! Kyle took a job position in NYC in the beginning of 2020, packed his bags, and left Mass to be with the love of his life! 7 years have gone by since then and they had weathered many storms together - Kyle & Kaitlyn started talking about marriage and knew they were meant to be together forever! Kaitlyn knew Kyle was going to propose at some point soon. They had a trip coming up to visit Kaitlyn's sister, Brie, in California and road trip from LA to San Fran with the family. At this point, Kaitlyn had no idea that Kyle had the ring with him, though the rest of the family was in on the plan. They traveled up the Pacific Coast Highway stopping at various beautiful places. The day arrived in Big Sur & the plan was to check out this cool spot to take a family Christmas photo before going out to dinner. Kyle & the rest of the family were doing their best to make sure that Kaitlyn was not suspicious. Once they arrived, Kaitlyn's family told her & Kyle to go ahead and take their photo first. Kyle asked Kaitlyn to turn around & look out over the ocean to take a picture of her because of how beautiful she looked at that moment. As she did, he got down on one knee and when she turned back around he popped the question. Kaitlyn was so shocked, it took her a moment to get the words out, “Yes!”
