Marcel and Lavonda first connected over their common interest of volunteering in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields for kids. Marcel leads the LEGO robotics team for elementary and middle school aged kids with his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated. Lavonda was leading a volunteer effort with her job, at the time, for elementary kids in STEM. After a few dates, they formed a friendship that grew into a loving relationship....

During the early phase of the pandemic, Lavonda got cabin fever and asked Marcel to take her out on a date, but something unique like a picnic. Marcel took the picnic idea to another level! Unbeknownst to Lavonda, he hired a company to plan and produce a luxurious picnic by the Potomac River in Old Town Alexandria. Lavonda loved the picnic and was truly happy Marcel made one of her wishes come true. Marcel, however, had other plans as he used this moment to propose during their date by the river. She said "Yes" and hasn't stopped smiling since! Special shoutout to Marco for the proposal pictures as he captured a once in a lifetime moment. On 3 lets all say: "AWWWWWW!!!"
