Match...the lovely dating app, that for awhile I didn't think worked. I had been on and off dating apps for years. Chris had only been on it a couple days when we both swiped right. We started chatting right away and it felt easy from the start. Talking on the app was getting hard, so he asked for my number in case his profile stopped working. We would text for hours after I would get home from work and we had soon made a plan to meet up. The day came, March 9th, a rather raw day that turned into a chilly night. We met up at a spot that I had been familiar with from my days living in Shelton for 5 years, but hadn't been to since I moved away from the town. We agreed on 7:30. I knew parking in that area could get tricky, so I parked like I was still living there, around the corner on a side street. I made my way down the hill and saw him standing outside waiting for me. Right away, I had a growing smile on my face and we said "hello" to each other and walked in. The night was an interesting one for sure. It started like normal, got some food and drinks, but as the night wore on, we noticed a few strange things. They had a DJ that night in this bar/restaurant, which was nice, but his music selections were all over the place. It went from some extreme rap and hip hop to Vanessa Carlton. We weren't sure what to make of it, but the place wasn't that crowded after awhile in our area, so we were just sitting all alone on one side of the place, just talking. Drinks were flowing, but I was already feeling the vibe. The place wasn't really big, but with anyone who walked in and out, the door was creating a draft and apparently, Chris gets cold pretty easily. So his hands were in his pants pockets while we were sitting down talking. From my perspective, I wasn't sure how he was taking everything, because that body language usually means "not interested". So the whole night, even though our conversations were amazing, the amount of people watching was thoroughly enjoyable and our made up theories on why the DJ was having a stroke with the music, I still wasn't sure what the night would bring or if he wanted to see me again. We closed the bar out, he walked me to my car. We said goodnight and he was the perfect gentleman only giving me a hug. I drove home and texted that I made it safely and said I had a really good night with him. We never stopped talking, because what I know now is that he had the same vibe I did from the start. Meeting just made the connection that much stronger. I spontaneously decided two days later to see if he wanted to hang out again, he agreed. That was just the start of what would become our late nights for a couple months, we moved in together in July and the rest is just the story unfolding and finally knowing that I have found my forever person.
