We met in AP Chemistry Prep classes in High School where we were paired up to work on some practice questions. O'Shea was known as the Chemistry class wiz so I knew I was lucky to have him as my partner so we could get the best grades. Once we finished our Summer prep classes, I thought that was it...until we had the same computer class later in the Fall. Not only were we in the same class, but we were somehow assigned the same laptop number! That was the start of our very first argument because I knew that laptop had been assigned to me first, but he's not so convinced.
O'Shea was having some very busy few days getting ready for important meetings (or so I thought) that when he told me he was going to leave late from work one day, I didn't think anything of it. Around 3:00PM I hear Oreo barking at the door and I begin wondering who could possibly be coming home in the middle of the day when I suddenly hear O'Shea's voice saying "Hi Oreo!!". He tells me we have dinner reservations, but it was a Wednesday so I thought we were going to a local restaurant in the neighborhood (because proposals happen on Fridays or the weekend in my mind). It wasn't until I took a step back and saw him dressed up that I became suspicious and my heart started racing and my stomach dropped in excitement. At that point my concern became, but what am I going to wear?!?! Like a true gentleman O'Shea came home with two beautiful dresses to choose from and a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes. That's when I KNEW it was happening. We enjoyed dinner at The River Café in DUMBO (where I've always wanted to go - and he saved it for this special day), went for a walk at the promenade and ended up talking for an hour under the Brooklyn Bridge in a beautiful area by the restaurant surrounded by lights before he proposed. It was perfect. It was just the two of us, in one of my favorite places in NYC on a beautiful Summer day. I wouldn't have changed a thing.
