After a brief conversation online (thank you, eHarmony!), Tim convinced Lauri he was a real person and she gave him her phone number. Lauri brought her dog, Ellie, to meet Tim at Wheeler Farm for a walk. Ellie approved and Lauri agreed to go on a 2nd date. They had a spontaneous date soon after for ice cream and then Tim impressed Lauri with his Pinball skills at the Nickel arcade. He's actually a nationally ranked pinball player, you can google him! Tim was impressed with Lauri's character, integrity, and love for Jesus and others. Lauri was impressed with Tim's ability to listen and ask good questions and how he encouraged her to talk about her feelings. They realized they shared a common faith and had a lot of common interests and goals. They quickly found themselves falling in Love, and the rest is history!
Lauri was anticipating a ring for Christmas but Tim surprised her a week ahead of time. They were celebrating Christmas with their 6 kids and 3 grandkids with dinner and presents at Lauri's house. Tim gave a very nice toast at the meal and talked about what a great year it has been with our two families meeting and blending, and how he was looking forward to a great year ahead. Lauri went back to eating after the toast and looked up to see Tim kneeling down next to her at the table. He said, "What would make next year even better is if Lauri agreed to marry me," as he pulled out the ring. Lauri said, "Yes! Of course!" as all of the kids pulled out their phones to begin documenting the moment. It was special to share the moment with all of our children.
