This story begins during our undergraduate years on a soccer field. Both were nervous to talk to the other but showed off one’s soccer skills to the group and for each other. Instantly there was a connection, but both were shy and did not know how to start the conversation. Over the next few months, Lauren built up the courage to hold a full conversation with Collin. There was a Halloween party on campus and Collin said the only reason he attended was because Lauren was going to be there. After remaining friends for a few months, on December 10, 2015, Collin finally asked Lauren on a date. Before the first date, a group of friends went to the Columbus Zoo Wild Lights. Every year after that Collin and Lauren went to the Zoo Lights to celebrate their anniversary. Collin had been waiting for the perfect way to ask Lauren to marry him, but after a missed attempt to go on a vacation to Europe, Collin had to figure out another way to propose. What better idea to surprise Lauren with the annual trip to Zoo Lights. Collin chose that December 22, 2022, was going to be the day and went to do the yearly photo in our spot and asked, “Lauren, will you marry me?”.
