In 2016 Scott transferred from his home in Scotland to sunny Miami, Florida for work. A few years later, in late 2018, Lauren moved apartments in Miami and found a new roommate, Joanna, who had also recently transferred from Northern Ireland and was put in contact with Scott. Joanna then introduced the two, with support from their friend Neil. They continued to meet through group events, which evolved into dates, and in July 2019, they made it official.

In the summer of 2022 Lauren and Scott planned a tour of Northern Italy, including a visit to Lake Como, where they stayed in a lovely villa overlooking the lake with views to the other side. On their second day, they took a boat excursion across the lake for lunch and a tour of Villa Olmo, which could be seen from their balcony. After viewing the villa they walked to the waterside to watch the boats, where Scott surprised Lauren by getting down on one knee. Tears were shed, she said yes, and they celebrated at the nearby café with a bottle of champagne. Almost two years later, they are excited to celebrate their love with all of you!
