Just a half mile walk from the waterfront park, check out The Battery! This stretch of fortified seawall has historically been utilized for protection against storms and military attacks. Check out the plaques along the way to take in stories of the past and look out towards open water to see Fort Sumter where the first shots of the Civil War rang out!
Check out Charleston and learn about the history behind the buildings around you on a horse-drawn carriage! Two local companies include Palmetto Carriage Works and Old South Carriage Company. Head over to Patriot's Point and take a tour of the USS Yorktown! Serving as the Navy's 10th aircraft carrier, this vessel served in WWII and Vietnam, among others. Thank you to all who have served in our nation's military!
