We met in 2010, the summer before senior year of high school. Zane got Lauren's phone number from a mutual friend and sent an out-of-the-blue text asking her out. Our first date was a trip to the movies to see The Other Guys (if you haven't seen it, you have until June 13!) and we dated throughout senior year. Once we went to different colleges, Zane in Idaho and Lauren in Wisconsin, we decided it was time to go our separate ways.

In the years after, we didn't have much contact besides a few texts here and there. Zane was living in Pittsburgh and Lauren was in Madison, but we each had dreams of moving back to the Pacific Northwest. Fast forward to the summer of 2022, Lauren had moved to Portland and Zane was in town for his MBA internship. Once again, he sent her an out-of-the-blue text—this time, asking if she wanted to catch up on the last 10 years. We met up for drinks, fell back into our familiar rhythm, and spent the rest of the summer together. Zane's internship turned into a full-time job in Portland, and as they say, the rest is history!

Zane proposed while we were on vacation in Cabo last March! Call it fate or maybe coincidence, but the night before he asked, we just so happened to be watching The Other Guys on TV. 🥹
