Voyage Tips
The ferry landing is in Anacortes, WA, 80 miles north of Seattle. It is recommended that you rent a car in order to get to the ferry landing and for your convenience traveling around the island. However, if you will not be renting a car, a shuttle runs directly from the airport to the ferry landing. IMPORTANT: Ferry Reservations!! Yes, you actually take your car on a boat! Vehicle reservations for the ferry can be made online (see link below). Ferry reservations are available starting March 10th. At that time 30% of spots are open. Another 30% are open 2 weeks prior, and 30% 2 days prior. When making a reservation, choose Anacortes to Orcas Island. Also, make sure to reserve your return trip. There is no charge to book a reservation online. You will pay your fee at the Anacortes booth upon arrival which covers a round-trip voyage. The ferry is extremely busy in the summer. Ensure you arrive at the landing at least one hour before your ferry’s scheduled departure.
