We met through mutual friends and at the time Tom was working in Elko, NV and was home on his week off. We spent a few short, fabulous days together before he went back for his 2 week hitch on, and that was enough for us to know we wanted to try and make this work even while he was working away from home. And now here we are almost 7 years later getting ready to spend the rest of our lives together!

We flew home to Massachusetts for what I thought was going to be a relaxing Thanksgiving with my family. Little did I know this had been in the works since April of 2018. My mom had sent out a family text message to let everyone know to bring dark jeans and white button down shirts for family pictures. I thought absolutely nothing of it because anytime we get the family together mom loves to get pictures. However, this time was different. We showed up to the beach on the coldest Thanksgiving in Massachusetts in 150 years to the wind blowing but, the sun shining. My mom had us all gather together and we got our family picture done and then she started asking couples to get together for individual pictures. I still was 100% clueless. My mom told Tom and I it was our turn and we walked out in front of my mom and he awkwardly stood facing me and then ran off towards the ocean. At this point I was frustrated because it was so cold and I couldn't figure out what he was doing. He came running back after I had been yelling at him and got down on one knee and I was in total shock. (I had known that we would spend the rest of our lives together but I had no idea that it was going to start now). He looked at me and said, "You are the love of my life, will you marry me?" I said yes as I burst into tears and he slid the ring on my freezing cold finger. I turned around to hugs from my entire family!
