Our Story

Ted & Lauren met back in 2016, when Lauren hired Ted to join the BlueJeans sales team in there Chicago office. However, life threw them both a curveball, when the company asked Ted to move out to California instead. Upon Lauren's return from vacation, she was surprised to find Ted in the San Jose office! - Needless to say her first in person impression was of shock and not preparedness. Over the course of a year, Lauren and Ted worked together and built a great friendship. It wasn't until Lauren's going away party, that Ted built up the courage to ask her out on a date (as she was no longer his boss!). Their first date was a Giants game, where Ted bought Lauren a baseball cap, nachos and a hard cider. Needless to say, the rest was history.

The Proposal

They say there are always two sides to a story, and in this case, there are two great stories to this proposal Story 1: After a year and a half Ted and Lauren working remotely and traveling throughout the US, Ted wanted to propose to Lauren in Napa, CA. Napa has always been a place they call 'home' and have navigated back too over the course of their relationship. Ted began planning a trip to Napa and had worked with the event coordinator at Amici Winery, to set up a grand proposal. Now, in true Lauren fashion, she wanted to find a place to settle down, and no longer travel as they had been on the road for 486 days. SO Lauren told Ted, that we were "not allowed to go to Napa, until we find a spot to live". This through Ted for a loop as he tried again and again to persuade her to go to Napa for "one more trip". But Lauren kept strong and they made the trip down to Southern California to find a place to call home. This of course left Ted between a rock and a hard spot, as he was having the ring shipped to the Winery! Story 2: After finding their place in Southern California, it was time to explore their new home. Boxes were unpacked, frames were hung, and decor was settled. So naturally Lauren was ready for the next step...a proposal. After a couple weeks in their new spot, Lauren was anxiously waiting for ted to pop the question, she kept wondering when and how Ted would propose. Not knowing what Ted had already planned, Lauren thought it would be fun to go back to Napa for a weekend. Ted quickly turned that down, as the ring was now on it's way to Southern California. The following weekend, Ted asked Lauren if she wanted to go for a drive down the Pacific Coast Highway, grab a coffee and head to brunch on the beach. As this was their favorite Saturday activity she quickly said yes and they jumped in the car. They headed to a coffee spot in Newport beach and walked around the homes, and park before heading to brunch. While at brunch Ted was intensely staring at the beach. After brunch while walking towards the beach, Ted looked at the sand, then at me and said before he proposed he said " I need to do this here because I'm afraid I will drop this in the sand" Ted then got down on one knee and proposed to Lauren. They celebrated at the beach where the ring was safely on Laurens finger and not dropped in the sand!
