We now have the weather forecast for Saturday1 Expect full sun, and a high of 67 degrees Farenheit / 20 Celsius. These will be our temps from arrival through dinner, then it will get cooler but not terrible!: down to around 62-63 F / 16-17 C for our last couple hours of dancing (reminder that the ENTIRE wedding is outside). We will have heaters for you! But if you tend to run cold, DEFINITELY bring a sweater/layers with you as well. Weird, but true: late Sept/early Oct is still SUMMER in the Bay Area! So it won't be a hot day, but should be pretty comfortable. :-)
Yes! 3 things to know. #1: Make sure you've notified Lauren & Sverre because we are given a limited number of parking spaces for local guests and need to make sure there's room. If there is, we'll add you to the "parking" list! Everyone else will need to come by shuttle, from one of our designated hotels. (See "What if I'm catching the shuttle but NOT staying at a hotel?") #2: VERY IMPORTANT! Slide Ranch is located in a VERY remote (think: camping in the woods, far from any buildings or lights) part of the Mt. Tamalpais hills. As soon as you start to climb from 101 into the hills, you will lose phone reception & GPS, so make sure you downloads directions *to & from* on your phone ahead of time. Driving back will be pitch black with no road lights, and it's easy to get lost. When you approach Slide Ranch, you'll see a small sign on the left (ocean-side) of the road, pointing down the hill. The Ranch is not visible from the road above, and the sign is easy to miss. #3: The road to Slide Ranch is elevated, extremely winding, and full of hairpin turns. There are also loads of crazy bicyclists who love to share the road with the cars. BUT, they do not have their own lane, and the road is very narrow/only one lane in both directions. When you come around these hairpin turns, it is impossible to see the bikers—so drive slowly & carefully around these turns!
We have assigned you a hotel to catch the shuttle at, BASED ON the address you've given us of where you're staying (and what's close!). Please make sure to check the "Shuttle Schedule" we'll email you—also posted in the "Shuttle Schedule" tab of this website—for which specific hotel you're been assigned to + the exact pick-up time. Because this week is Fleet Week and the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, expect street closures and lots of traffic if you're staying downtown/Embarcadero. We expect Ubers to take longer than usual. We ask you to please build in a lot of extra travel time from your accommodations to your shuttle pick-up. If Uber says "10 min" from your downtown hotel to your shuttle? We recommend allowing 30 for traffic/delays. If you miss the shuttle, there's no way to get to the wedding!
Garden party chic! Bright colors! Fun & vibrant & playful fashionista! See full description on our "The Wedding" page. Bring SUNGLASSES for the long afternoon, all-outdoors. Wear SUNSCREEN! (shade is limited) Ladies: if you're wearing heels wear COMFY heels and chunky heels for the uneven/rocky ground and for a walk down the hill from the parking lot.
Yes, please do! When you RSVP let us know your needs and our amazing chef will make your plate especially for you. :-)
With some embarrassment, yes, we decided we're accepting gifts. BUT, honest to god, the REAL GIFT is you being an amazing friend or family member and paying to fly out be with us for this celebration! We are ... blown away! So please know you ARE NOT EXPECTED to get us anything at all! Zero obligation! If you are crazy generous and would still like to, we have an American and a Norwegian "Honeymoon Fund" on our RSVP page, OR a beautiful LGBTQ+ org you can donate to in the spirit of supporting love of every kind. If you are one of the people who is insisting on giving us something, well: 1). You are insanely generous, and 2). We don't have a registry at any stores, but contributions towards our "wedding fund" (turns out, they're expensive!) or "honeymoon fund" would be so appreciated. We don't have the links up yet, but soon will on the "Registry" page. And THANK YOU so much for wanting to help us out.
Short answer: NO. Slide Ranch mandates we use a professional shuttle services to transport guests TO & FROM the wedding, for the majority of guests. Why? 2 reasons ... #1. Slide Ranch has limited space for guest parking and can only accommodate about 10 cars total. #2. The drive to Slide Ranch is through the Mt. Tam mountain range: unlit at night, with lots of tight hairpin turns, and without GPS/phone reception. So for safety reasons (especially when people are drinking), but also so you don't get lost! So we've reserved 3 shuttle buses to take guests from our 6 designated hotels (see the "Where to Stay" page) to the wedding, & back at the end of the night. However, if you are LOCAL and know the roads: Slide Ranch does have a handful of parking spots, earmarked for some of Lauren's immediate family and Bay Area friends—LET LAUREN KNOW if you'd like to drive yourself, and if we can fit you, no problem!
We love your kids—and this is especially true if we KNOW your kids! The answer is it depends on how much space we have. But, PLEASE do reach out and let us know if you'd like to bring your kids, because in that case we'd like to make it work too! Just a head's up that there won't be *many* kids there, so you'd just want to make sure your kiddo wouldn't be miserably bored. And it is a long day. BUT it's also outdoors and unstuffy. You know your child best and we love and trust you!
It's a smallish wedding, so for +1s it's ideal if Sverre & I have met them before. This helps make sure we don't have more people than Slide Ranch can fit AND helps make the wedding more intimate! We'd love our big day to be shared with people we know and love, who know us as couple and care about our relationship. THAT SAID: If you have a new partner that we just haven't met *yet* who you'd like to bring, PLEASE let us know! We will do our best to say "yes," providing there's enough space!
No, but it's preferable. Because we have shuttle pick-up + drop-off service at our hotels (see "Where to Stay"), it gets logistically complicated if too many guests find there own hotel. We've tried to reserve at hotels with a range of prices, so hopefully you find something that fits your budget. If you aren't finding a good fit among our hotels, we only ask that you please *run your hotel by us*. The wedding weekend is a BUSY weekend in SF ... It's the famous Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park, the massive Fleet Week air show brings thousands of tourists in and is running all week, AND it's the Mill Valley Film Festival! Whew! So we expect road closures, lots of traffic, and longer waits for Uber. In order to make sure none of you miss your shuttle and that the wedding starts on time, it's best if you either stay at one of our recommended hotels or stay VERY near one (like, 5 min or under).
