How We Met

My friend in middle school was Steven’s next door neighbor. He would ride his bike over and we would go to the creek to swim. It was probably the nasty creek water affecting my brain, but that was when I was first swooned by Steven Leake. We originally met then but it wasn’t until after we both graduated high school that we were set up on our first date.

Our first date

April 8th, 2013

Steven had asked me to go “ridin” in Camner. If you haven’t been there, its just small atv riding trails outside of Magnolia. Let’s just say I was a little nervous when he pulls in with his four wheeler and his new hair cut. The Steven I remembered from high school had long, Justin Beiber, ginger straight hair. Well that was all gone and he had a lime green bandana to hold back his spiked up hair. The day went well with all the trail rides, but I’ll never forget him telling me that I didn’t have to hold on so tight when we were on the four wheeler. By the end of the day, leave it to me to flip his friends four wheeler trying to show off. So now I have a pretty cool scar on my side to remind me everyday of that awesome first date.

Proposal

April 6th, 2018

After months of planning and deciding on how to do it, Steven decided he was going to propose in front of all of our friends at one of our friend’s house during a “game night”. Before that we had went to my mamaw’s house for Easter and I was enjoying myself so much that I had even stated that I wouldn’t mind staying longer. Well, Steven had other plans that I had absolutely no clue about! So finally he got me out of there to head to our friends. I had to take a pit stop at his place before and then at the gas station after that. Looking back now it makes me laugh because I had no idea I was stalling one of the best moments of my life! Once we got there I remember running in and everyone staring at me and there hung a banner that said “Its not easy being me, thats why I need you!” and below it my closest friends and family held up signs that said “Will you marry me?” Initially I was stunned and speechless! I turned around and the best man I could ever ask God for was down on one knee asking me to marry him. There was no other answer but yes!

For all the days along the way
