Marquette does NOT have Uber or Lyft services in the area!! There is one cab service in town, Checker Transport. Most of the bars downtown are walkable, but the reception is at Barrel + Beam, which is about a 10-minute drive from downtown. PLEASE keep this in mind when planning for your transportation following the reception and booking your stay for the weekend.

Aura vs. L'anse

Answer

The wedding ceremony will be held on the Hendricks' family property alongside Lake Superior, in the unincorporated community of Aura just north of L'Anse and Pequaming. Although the address is technically in L'anse per the zip code (and will most likely come up on your maps as L'Anse NOT Aura), the locals refer to that area of the land as Aura, a hidden UP treasure.

Cell Phone Service

Answer

There are many areas across the UP, including parts of the route between Aura and Marquette, that have minimal to no cell phone service. Please be mindful of this and have the addresses for both the ceremony and reception saved in your maps and set your GPS to navigate to the destination before leaving cell service range. Although not necessary, you can use Google Maps to download map sections to your app, which can be used with no cell service.

Weather

Answer

Although we are hoping for beautiful clear skies and a warm sunny day with our late July ceremony, the UP weather can be variable in temperature/wind and the nights can get a bit chillier. Please make sure to pack accordingly.
