Scott had noticed Lauren in the gym for weeks. He was jokingly telling his friend, Will, that Lauren was his new girlfriend every time they saw her at the gym. Finally, when Scott believes Lauren made eye contact, he approaches her and introduces himself, "Hey, I see you in here all the time and thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Scott, you probably see me awkwardly staring at you." Yes, this is where Scott ended his introduction. Lauren politely introduced herself but, a little creeped out, said "I'm sorry, I'm in the zone," and continued her work-out for that day. Scott didn't make eye contact with Lauren for months. Lauren felt bad that she had blown him off, but she knew he was embarrassed and so they went on their separate ways until Scott noticed Lauren on Facebook as "Someone You May Know." Scott sent her a friend request and a message. The rest is history.
Prelude: In early 2018, Lauren's father was diagnosed with fronto-temperal dementia. Along with this, her grandmother was diagnosed with dementia years earlier. To help the cause, Lauren volunteered with the Alzheimer's Association and was on the recruiting committee for the 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer's in Louisville. The Story: As Lauren was nearing the end of the Walk with her father by her side. She noticed a dog by the finish line that looked exactly like her and Scott's dog, Briscoe. But, Lauren also knew that her and Scott decided to leave Briscoe at home for the walk. She then noticed a sign the dog was wearing that read "Will you marry my dad?" Quickly, she glanced to see what collar the dog had on and the leash that was being used and realized......wow, this is happening!! Lauren turned around to see Scott down on one knee. There was no hesitation. Her answer was YES.
