As Sam walked up to the porch of the Amvets and heard all the laughter and joking coming from our table our eyes meet as she sat down and at that moment... she instantly could not STAND ME! She likes to say I was loud, and obnoxious! I call that being tons of fun she just didn't see it at first! But as the days turned into weeks and weeks into months and we volunteered together, or our circles started to intertwine something began to happen. We started to become friends, short text grew longer, texts turned into calls. It was a simple friendship and one that was evolving with every visit down here. Our friendship changed with a secret kiss in the kitchen of the Amvets one evening. We began our relationship 3 1/2 hours away from each other, starting with visits every other weekend and would eventually turn into longer and longer visits. It was during this time we began to learn more and more about each other. It was in this time we discovered why we loved each other. For me it was Samantha's soft nature and her ability to be strong but so sensitive all at once, and her passion for helping when needed. Sam learned that at times my passions can blind me, my kindness can be my biggest fault, and that there in not an animal I will turn my back on. She has stuck by every rescue the good and the bad, and for that she is my person! I wouldn't want to know what my life would be without Samantha in it, we fit each other in a way that only we understand. Sometimes while sitting on the couch or on the back deck with our fur babies running around or snuggled up to us we just look at each other and smile. You might not see it, but we have a beautiful family! And we would like to welcome you to our next chapter to our story! Our story is not a typical story, but it is our story and we are PROUD to call it OURS!
