Waiting on the Lord

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever. I will thank you forever, because you have done it. I will wait for your name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly. Psalm 52:8-9

How we met

The Hypocrites “Safety Net” release party

God has a way of making a way. It all started with a handshake. …when Sam landed a videography gig …because he knew someone that knew someone ...whose son is in a band (The Hypocrites) …who wrote an album and wanted to throw a release party …that Lauren attended because “I love the Hypocrites.” (@thehypocritesofficial) …and because she was really early to the party and was tired of socializing …and because her distracted friend didn’t introduce her to Sam, she introduced herself ...and later Sam asked, "What about Lauren?"

The First Date

…ONE month later

We met for coffee at The Hub and talked for four straight hours. After a few text exchanges, we decided seeing each other again would be a great idea. The second date lasted… Eight hours. Apparently, we like spending time together. We had lunch at Magnolia and May, took a walk with AJ, and baked cookies for Lauren’s family members coming to visit that week. We baked A LOT of cookies, which included a recipe mishap, a call to Lauren’s sister and an extra trip to the store. #alwaysanadventure

Trial by fire

or by axe?

It depends on how you define “win” as to who won at axe throwing on our third date. Sam won if you define winning by number of points. Lauren won if you define winning by how many times you actually hit the board. Either way, by the end of the night no one was injured and both thought that this might be playing for keeps.

The engagement

aka bold choices and #thisisus

- CHECK! Leave at 3am for a sunrise hike. - CHECK! Take one hour to drive 17 miles in the pitch dark, up a 45 degree incline in loose gravel. - CHECK! Go on a hike you haven’t done before. - CHECK! Hike 30 minutes downhill in the dark passing signs that say “Danger: Cliff Falls”. - CHECK! Take the love of your life to a beautiful overlook, settle in, watch the sunrise, and ask her to spend the rest of her life with you. Yes, this includes her doing more crazy-fun things like this with you.

Grateful

We see God at work.

We are overjoyed to begin our life together and we are so grateful for everything the Lord has done to bring us to this place. He was making a path for us to each other. How Sam’s prayers were answered in a matter of days and how Lauren’s prayers were answered in a matter of weeks are stories we’d love to share with you. Even if all the …questions seem to go unanswered, …doubts feel too big, … seasons feel like a lifetime, God is still good and He is still working for your good and His glory.
