We met at a housewarming party in NYC and spent almost the whole night talking to each other. A few months later we finally had our first date - on a freezing winter day in February, we planned to meet at the West 4th St. subway stop. Lauren was 45 min late and Peregrine's phone was dead (classic). Lauren found Peregrine giving advice to a fundraiser for Smile Train in the snow. That's when we first started falling in love.
Peregrine and I had many of our first dates on MacDougal Street. Some of our favorite spots included Emmett's, Creperie, Kati Roll Factory, and the Comedy Cellar (We were in the front row and the comedian asked if we were in love... 2 weeks into dating! Awkward!) Six years later Peregrine proposed at Emmett's, our favorite deep dish pizza spot that we'd come back to over and over again, even after moving to San Francisco. Little did I know that Nancy Owen and Paul Badger had mailed their engagement ring from Cleveland, Ohio, to my apartment months before -- hidden inside one of those puffy pouches bearing Peregrine's grandfather's watch. Timing...was a surprise to say the least! I was in a grumpy mood having just lost a favorite necklace earlier that day. When the ring came, sandwiched between two pizza plates, my reaction was -- "wow, I'm not the only one who has lost jewelry today!" Only when Peregrine picked up the ring and asked me to come over did I realize what was happening. And yes, despite the giant Stop sign on the restaurant door (scenic scoping could have used a little work ^_^), I said yes! We're so excited to celebrate this next adventure with you. See you in August!
