Afton State Park is especially beautiful in late October and early November, with colorful fall foliage and scenic views of the St. Croix River. It’s a great spot for a peaceful hike or to simply enjoy the outdoors in a calm and natural setting.
Minnehaha Falls
Located just a short drive from the airport, Minnehaha Falls is a beautiful 53-foot waterfall surrounded by a scenic park. It's a great spot for a quick walk or to relax by the falls, especially during the fall when the colors are at their peak.
Smilin Moose Lodge Bar & Grill
If you're looking for a laid-back spot to grab a bite, make sure to check out The Smilin' Moose Bar & Grill in Hudson, WI—one of Lauren and Otto's favorite places to stop whenever they're back home. They swear by the sweet potato fries (seriously, don’t skip them), and they highly recommend it to all their guests. After you’ve had your fill, take a stroll around downtown Hudson and enjoy the river views. It's the perfect place to relax and enjoy some local charm!
Knoke's
Just down the street from The Smilin' Moose is Knoke’s Chocolates, Lauren and Otto's favorite spot to satisfy their sweet tooth. They always swing by for dessert—whether it’s ice cream, handmade chocolates, or just an excuse to load up on treats. Otto recommends the Zanzibar chocolate ice cream, while Lauren is all about the Big Muddy—rich, chocolatey, and just the right amount of extra. If loving chocolate were a sport, these two would’ve gone pro by now.
Wabasha Street Caves
Just minutes from downtown St. Paul, the Wabasha Street Caves offer a glimpse into the city’s Prohibition history. These sandstone caves were once a speakeasy and gangster hideout. Guided tours share stories of mobsters, local legends, and the unique past.
Caribou Coffee
If you're looking for a solid coffee spot while you're in town, Lauren and Otto highly recommend Caribou Coffee—a local Minnesota chain they love way more than Starbucks. It’s their go-to for a quick breakfast and a good cup of coffee. They both swear by the iced vanilla latte, and the breakfast sandwiches hit the spot too. Definitely worth a stop while you're here.
