We met at SMU at the beginning of our sophomore year. After a school year of talking on and off, we officially started dating the day Lauren moved home for the summer (also the day before her birthday). We spent that summer driving to Dallas to meet for our weekly dates doing everything from walks in Klyde Warren Park, to rock climbing, to paddle boarding at White Rock Lake. After that summer, we knew we had something special.
We were celebrating our early Christmas together. In normal pre-COVID fashion, we went to the gym and went to brunch. We went to Cafe 43 on SMU's campus. After brunch, we went to the Dallas Arboretum, the location of one of our first dates. Noah said he wanted to walk around the Christmas village, so I happily followed along, taking my sweet time looking at every display. We walked by a two-level garden, and Noah wanted us to go get a closer look. When we turned into the garden, I saw pictures of us over the past 5 years we had been dating. After quickly walking through our pictures, Noah proposed (in front of our picture with Honey)!
