Because we LOVE this city (& know you will too)! And instead of making half of the guests travel, we're all traveling.
As we know, weather can be unpredictable. But we're expecting it to be humid & between 70-80 degrees with random pockets of rain.
- Garden Party Cocktail - We know you probably look amazing in black, but please consider wearing color. If you'd like to get really specific, we're categorizing this event as: Moody Spring in Romantic New Orleans with a hint of Moulin Rouge. We're not looking for tuxes, but please no denim. Additionally, walking in NOLA means walking on uneven sidewalks & cobblestones. I would not recommend breaking out your highest, skinniest heels.
Yes! Get ready to kick off the reception with a parade around the block led by NOLA's own Kinfolk Brass Band.
The venue itself is a mixture of indoor/outdoor. Our ceremony will be set up outside in the courtyard which will then get flipped to the dining area. The food stations, dance floor, & bars will be located inside. If heavy rain is predicted day-of, we will have the ceremony & reception indoors. (But you better believe rain is not going to stop our second line parade!)
If you chose one of the hotels listed in the Hotels & Travel section linked above, the venue will be a quick walk away. Pedi cab is also a great option to navigate the crowded Quarter. Please see the Hotels & Travel page for pedi cab company recommendation. Lyft & Uber are very common in the city & should be easy to book via the apps. This option may not be faster than walking/pedi cab due to 1-way streets and closures due to the festival going on. Your hotel front desk should also be able to call you a taxi upon request. If you're staying at an Airbnb or hotel near the trolley, we recommend downloading the Le Pass app on your phone to find stations, check schedules, & even purchase your ticket. Should you drive in or rent a car, we do not recommend driving to the venue as there is no designated lot and street parking is incredibly limited in the French Quarter.
It's the wedding style of choice in NOLA! It's like a cocktail party with passed hors d'oeuvres and meal stations open all night. So while there will be no formally seated dinner, rest assured that food and drinks will be flowing steadily and plentifully throughout the event! This also means no assigned seats (though you will have somewhere to sit).
You bet! But please bring cash to tip those lovely bartenders.
The food stations consist of mainly traditional Cajun & Creole dishes. If you have any dietary concerns please reach out to Nick or Lauren so we can discuss further.
Right now the plan is to be in NOLA from Tuesday 4/9 to Tuesday 4/16. We will have a room at the Q&C Hotel for that entire week but Lauren will be at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel on Friday night and Nick will be joining her on Saturday night after the wedding. Then back to Q&C Sunday-Tuesday.
The sooner the better. We found out after booking the date that French Quarter Festival will be happening the same weekend. Upon research it seems like a much more local event so it will not be as large as Jazz Fest or Mardi Gras. Please keep in mind the hotel block rooms are limited.
We know we're asking a lot of our guests to travel and stay in a different city for our big day so your presence is more than enough for us! Should you still wish to give a gift, it can be mailed to: 11905 Avon Way #203, Los Angeles, CA 90066. There will be a box present at the reception for any cards.
We are kindly requesting that this be an adult-only affair.
We did not reserve any spots for an after-party. Since the venue is off of Bourbon Street there are plenty of options for guests to keep the good times rolling just a few steps away. The DJ will announce what Nick & Lauren decide to do should you wish to join them.
We're going to post up at Bacchanal Wine & Spirits! Please stop by to say hi or goodbye if you have a couple hours to spare. They do not take reservations and the location isn't in the French Quarter, but it is a super relaxed atmosphere with plenty of outdoor seating, live music, & cheese. We'd love to see you there.
We have SO MANY recommendations on where to eat, drink, & explore! Please check out the "Things To Do" page linked at the top for our favorite spots.
We're BOTH changing our last names to Rady-Fernandez!
