FAQs

Below is additional information to help you prepare for the wedding weekend. We will continue to add more information as questions arise.
Question

How do I get to the wedding events at Wild Dunes Resort?

Answer

The primary location at the Resort and for your GPS is the Boardwalk Inn. From there, all event locations are within a short walking distance and there will be hotel staff able to guide you and answer any questions. There are several areas to park by the hotel, including valet, a garage and a parking lot. Upon arrival to the Boardwalk Inn entrance, feel free to ask the valet for parking guidance and they valet park your car or direct you to the best place to park. Please note that once you arrive at Wild Dunes Resort, there is a gated entry. Just let the guard know that you are there for a wedding and/or staying there (if you are staying at the resort). From there, they will let you know how to get to Boardwalk Inn, which is 1 min away from the entrance.

Question

What is the Mehndi | Sangeet?

Answer

The Sangeet is a traditional Indian event meant to bring family and friends together in celebration ahead of the wedding. There will be dinner, music and dancing! In the first couple of hours of the night, mehndi (henna) artists will be available to provide mehndi designs to any interested guests.

Question

What is a Baraat?

Answer

The Baraat is the groom's processional to the wedding, in which he, his family and friends will walk and dance in a mini "parade" to the ceremony. While the Baraat is traditionally attended by guests of the groom and his family, all are welcome and encouraged to join!

Question

Why is there a break between the Hindu and American ceremonies?

Answer

Following the end of the Hindu ceremony, there will be a 2 hour break to allow time for the bride, groom and family to change outfits and prepare for the American ceremony. During this time, there will be light snacks and refreshments, as well as lounge seating, available for all guests. This is also a good time to change, if you would like to, prior to the American ceremony and reception.

Question

What do I wear to Indian events?

Answer

While all are welcome to wear Indian clothing to any of the Indian events, it is certainly not required, and we encourage people to wear whatever they are most comfortable in. For the Sangeet, men can wear business casual. Women can wear cocktail attire; colorful clothing is encouraged! If you would like to wear Indian clothes, feel free to reach out to Maulik or Lauren for additional information and guidance. For the Hindu ceremony, Indian clothing is also optional. You are more than welcome to wear the same outfit you plan on wearing to the American ceremony and reception. Alternatively, you can wear Indian clothing and change into a Western-style outfit during the afternoon tea portion between the two ceremonies.
