Walkable from every apartment Lauren has lived in in KC, this was her first real regular spot. It is so special to her that after Maddie proposed, this is where they went to celebrate. They enjoyed champagne, steak and views of the bustling market. They recommend the burata and the lemoncello sparkle. The owners are also huge KC Current fans!
Sister Anne's Records & Coffee
This is Maddie's favorite coffee shop in the entire city. They have been a regular for a few years because they love how much it reminded them of Seattle coffee shops. From working on their application to their graduate program to dramatically sipping a latte and pining over Lauren, this shop has been critical to their development and joy.
Screenland Armour Theatre
Support your local indie theatre! Yes, you get your big releases but they show old classics that would never see a big screen again. Maddie surprised Lauren with tickets to Misery, her favorite Stephen King adaptation. Lauren had a disturbing amount of joy on her face the entire time, especially seeing the hobbling on the big screen. If you know, you know. We are this theatre's NUMBER ONE FAN.
Chingu Coffee
Take every coffee recommendation on here to heart. Maddie finds the best coffee in every city and will be able to tell you their favorite roasts, blends, regions, washes, etc. Maddie makes Lauren a latte with their expensive espresso machine every morning and Lauren has never been happier to be so over-caffeinated.
City Market
The City Market is the only home Lauren has known in Kansas City. While a sprawling event during the warmer months, it's off season (Nov-Apr) offer the same great food, vintage thrifting and vendors who will brave the unpredictable Missouri weather. City Market Coffee is lesbian owned and Al Habashi mart has a great selection of Middle Eastern food and spices.
Lazia
Situated in the Crossroads Hotel, Lazia has the BEST pasta in the city. Or if the weather is still nice, enjoy a drink on the rooftop at Percheron. Lauren and friends surprised Maddie for their birthday here last summer. We ran into KC Current players, had dinner in a vault room and got free champagne cause Maddie's a hottie. You will not be disappointed (even if you don't get free champagne because Maddie isn't with you).
Baba's Pantry
Enjoy the best Palestinian food in the Midwest. A beautiful atmosphere, great food and kind people!
Prospero's Books
Maddie and Lauren can spend a long time going up and down these aisles. Whether they're looking for new books or looking to replace a favorite paperback with a hardcover, they guarantee you will find something new and interesting. This is also a walkable area with coffee shops and a beautiful vintage store that Maddie regrets showing Lauren.
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
A world-renowned art museum that is truly worth even an hour of your time. They have a beautiful food court and art you will see nowhere else. This is one of the first places Lauren visited in KC and a place she still goes to find colorful escapism.
Casual Animal Brewing Co
A great spot for unique beers and ciders + games and the occasional guest chef. More of a drink and snack place, but always a great vibe.
Pitchside Coffee
A coffee shop owned by KC Current players!
