Lauren here! Lukas & I met in August of 2016 on my first real day on a dating app that I didn't even sign myself up for (shout out to Katie Wis for that - I am FOREVER grateful!). We met for the first time at his job, a local plant nursery, where I brought in a redwood seedling I picked up on my cross country road trip and asked him for advice. He was unbelievably handsome, and as he helped me load new plant supplies in my car, he asked me to go on a date with him the next day. We went to Thompson Park, and we must have spent 4 or 5 hours walking around the pond chatting about plants and life. We had such an amazing connection that we spent the entire next day together too - eating cupcakes in a hammock by the water, and going to see a scary movie. 3 weeks later, he helped me pack my bags and my car to move down to Virginia for a 4 month job. I was nervous to leave at such an early stage of our relationship, but Lukas showed me nothing but support and love, and promised me that my moving didn't matter, he had found what he was looking for in me, and he was in it to win it. And I believed him, because he was unbelievably genuine, and also because packing is the worst, and no one's going to help you unless they truly care about you. We were "officially" dating by October, and he continued to hold true to his promise to stand by me. He stayed with me through Virginia, 2 years in Long Island, and helped me move back home. We have taken so many adventures together, and I hope to continue adventuring for the rest of our lives. Lukas proposed to me on August 15, 2019 at the Sandy Hook Lighthouse, where we were both working. He told no one, and he shocked me so much that I thought he was playing a joke on me. I was in my park uniform, and not looking my best after sweating in the woods the entire day. And if he's willing to propose to me after a long day looking like that, then he's prepared to love me for the rest of our lives, and I'll love him back forever <3
