Our Love Story

Preschool sweethearts to soul mates.

Their story began in 2009, when they first met in preschool. Life took them to different schools, but every so often, their paths quietly crossed without them even realizing. It wasn’t until a Sunday school service at Southland Church in grade 6 that they truly noticed each other again. That day, they stood in the basketball line for a game of 21. Lauren was a few spots ahead with one of Lewis’s older brother’s friends, while Lewis stood with his brother and a buddy. Lauren overheard Lewis saying he thought she was cute—Lauren couldn’t believe he noticed her and could hardly wait to get home and stalk his socials. The moment she did, she sent him a DM, starting months of talking. Lewis, shy, gentle, and blissfully unaware of Laurens beauty, kept things slow, while Lauren lit up every time he replied. From sports and middle names to favorite foods, movies, and music, they covered just about everything two 12-year-olds knew about. Through the years, they dated other people, but their friendship never faded. They shared the same circles and a quiet connection that was always there. Eventually, life brought them back to each other—single, older, and mature. They’ve often said God waited until the right time, when they were focused enough to build the kind of relationship they’ve been blessed with—proof that His plans are always greater. In November 2022, they started what everyone jokingly called “not dating, dating.” They were inseparable from the start, and by July 2024, Lewis officially asked Lauren to be his girlfriend (took you long enough bud) If you know Lewis, you know he’s quiet, introverted, and has the gentlest soul. If you know Lauren, you know she’s the life of the party, the one who doesn't need caffeine no matter the time (it’s the FOMO), and never runs out of things to say. He’s the listener, and she’s the talker, and yet, they balance each other perfectly. Like all great relationships, theirs is built on compromise. Lewis has learned to keep up with Lauren’s busy weeks, and Lauren has learned to slow down and savor quiet moments at home—filled with great movies, cooking, or simply being side by side. Before Lewis, Lauren was always GO GO GO!! Now, he’ll catch her in a moment of stillness and say, “You’re peopled out, aren’t you?” And he’s right. He knows her in ways she never knew she needed. Being with him has taught her to slow down, be present, and truly enjoy the moment. And where Lauren found beauty in stillness, Lewis found growth in connection. Once reserved, he kept his world small and familiar. But as their relationship grew, so did he. With Lauren by his side, he stepped beyond his comfort zone, opening himself up to new people and experiences. Now, he thrives in spaces that once felt overwhelming—drawn to laughter, connection, and the joy of being surrounded by those he loves. Watching him come into his own has been a meaningful part of their story. Just as Lewis helped Lauren appreciate the quiet, she helped him embrace the fullness of life around him. Together, they’ve filled their days with road trips, cabin weekends, family gatherings, date nights, cozy movies, spontaneous adventures and lots of horrible golf. They’ve grown as individuals and as a couple, always pushing each other to be better while keeping God at the center. They can’t wait to see where God takes them next, surrounded by the love of family, friends, and their faith every step of the way.
