March 27, 2022 my brother invited me to come to Sunday Funday as he was "sick of me being in the house." Once I got to his apartment, I quickly realized I didn't know many people there and instantly regretted coming out. I went out on the balcony to have a breather and there was Keith (Keif). Without any introduction or anything he said with a straight face "can I pleassseeee lace your shoes, I hate how you have them tied." I didn't know if I should be grateful or offended. Tony then asked Keith if he would ride with me out so I wouldn't be by myself and we just clicked. What started out as months of pure friendship led Keith to finding some courage to ask me on a date. And when I say pure friendship, it was genuinely a front row seat to the chaos of both of our lives, giving dating advice, hanging out, and getting to know each other in such an honest and raw way. I was very hesitant at first as I didn't want to mess up the dynamic of our friendship if things didn't work out. So we snuck around making sure we didn't let our friends know just in case we decided to call it quits. I will never forget the look on Amber and Tony's face when we told them we were dating, however the support from Day 1 was so surreal. Fast forward, introducing the boys to "Keys/Keif/Keifes" was the most terrifying yet rewarding journey to experience. Immediately Keith stepped up to the plate and poured everything into my children. Fully immersing himself so that he could learn, grow, and be the role model in the home that they would need. Although he still forgets to make them floss every night, I would say he's doing pretty good. My boys fell in love with Keith in such a way any momma bear could wish and has been the best bonus dad I could have ever imagined. Although our journey has had its valleys with its peaks, I will forever be grateful that March 27th brought us here along with the countless memories we have already made. I can only imagine what our future holds. Cheers to choosing forever.
