Our Story

They were always meant to meet, just not yet.

Once upon a time, in a world of distant lands and daring adventures, there lived a man named Jean-Christian, known to most as JC. With a mysterious background and a career that took him to places most only read about, he led a life marked by movement. The idea of settling down felt as foreign to him as a quiet, uneventful life. But even with his wanderlust, a part of him longed for something, someone, to call home. Meanwhile, in the same hometown, lived Lauren, a woman who knew exactly what she wanted. With a background in mental health, she dedicated her life to understanding the human heart. Independent and strong-willed, Lauren wasn’t interested in anything superficial. She craved deep connection, and she believed she’d one day find someone who matched her energy, challenged her mind, and held her heart with intention. What neither of them knew was that they had always been just a few steps apart. They grew up down the street from one another, went to the same local spots, even shared a dentist, yet fate had kept them from meeting. Until one night in Fort Lauderdale changed everything. They still can’t agree on the location, American Social or The Wharf, but both remember the moment. JC was captivated by Lauren’s energy, her goofy charm, her spark. Lauren was immediately intrigued by his calm confidence and the stories behind his eyes. Their first conversation felt electric, sealed with a playful debate: “Biggie or Tupac?” JC confidently replied, “Tupac.” Lauren grinned. “Biggie is better.” Determined not to let him disappear into the winds of his next adventure, Lauren got creative. She charmed him into joining her kickball league. It was the perfect excuse to see each other weekly, and the beginning of something real. With each game and every shared moment, their bond deepened. JC admired Lauren’s strength and fire; Lauren felt safe and seen in JC’s presence. Eventually, they moved in together, sharing a home filled with laughter and love, and a spirited pit bull named Winston (who the neighbors know only as “a mix”). Life felt full. But soon, another adventure called: JC joined the Army National Guard. Ironically, this decision came from wanting to be home more, with Lauren. During their seven months apart, JC never stopped thinking about her. He wrote letters, replayed memories, and planned for the future. And when he returned, he knew what he had to do. He took Lauren to Boca Raton, to the first place they went out together after moving in. There, in front of the same fountain where they once walked Winston, JC, after assuring her he asked her dad, got down on one knee and asked Lauren to marry him. She said yes. They celebrated across the street at another American Social, surrounded by family and friends, bringing everything full circle. Their story, a tale of fate, timing, and just the right amount of creative matchmaking, had finally found its moment. Now, with the wedding ahead, they can’t wait for the next chapter. Side by side, heart to heart, JC and Lauren know: the best is yet to come. The Beginning.
