Our favorite brewery in the city, if not the country! We found this gem by accident shortly after we moved up here. Jalen would recommend Setlist IPA or any of the IPA's on tap and Lauren enjoys their sours and fruited sours. They have recently opened a new location in Muskego, which is a little closer to Delafield! Still open, limited capacity, masks required.
Our neighborhood bar! This is a small, craft beer bar with always an interesting selection on tap. The bartenders here know pretty much everything about beer. If you are waited on by a bald man with glasses, tell him Lauren and Jalen sent ya! Still open, limited capacity, masks required.
Best handmade sausages, hands down. Lauren's favorites are the Salazar or a bratwurst - Seattle style and Jalen's favorites are The Jorge or a bratwurst - Pittsburgh style with a Vanguard Old Fashioned to wash it down. Open for takeout only.
Jesus on the walls, hipster wait staff, burritos as big as your head (good for sharing!), and the best margaritas! There is another location in Bayview, if the N Bremen location is packed (usually is during peak times), head to Bayview! Still open, limited capacity, masks required.
Do you like comedy? Do you like sports? Then you'll love ComedySportz! It's competitive team improv that is fun for all ages! Or, if you're feeling saucy, they offer an uncut 18+ version called the Midnite Show on Saturdays at midnight. One of our favorite spots to take new guests! Unfortunately, Comedy Sportz is closed to the public. They are doing virtual matches via zoom, see their website for more info!
Miniature bowling in a dive bar. Truly a Milwaukee institution. Reservation highly recommended! Unsure of Covid-19 rules, please call for info before going.
Check out the museum where Lauren currently works as the Education Coordinator! They are known for their exhibit about the life and legacy of Waukesha's own Les Paul, creator of the solid body electric guitar. Still open, limited capacity, masks required.
Excellent coffee, Lauren's favorite is the spiced chai latte. Would also highly recommend their sandwiches, such as the Cranberry Bog. Located in downtown Waukesha, blocks from the Waukesha County Historical Society and Museum! Downtown Waukesha is a very cute and walkable area. Still open, limited capacity, masks required.
Beautiful spot near downtown Waukesha, right on the Fox River, with its own formal gardens.
One of the premier natural history museums in the Midwest. Lauren interned here in the Anthropology department. Her favorite area is the 3rd floor pre-Columbian mezzanine, but the whole museum is a treat! Reopening soon, timed tickets are required, masks required, see their website for more information.
Another awesome brewery in a brand new location (old Pabst Blue Ribbon packaging warehouse). Best tour in Milwaukee! $12 gets you a souvenir pint glass, beer history in Milwaukee, and unlimited samples for about 2 hours. Hard to beat that! Still open, limited capacity, masks required.
Our favorite burger joint in town! If you go, you have to get the bacon wrapped jalapeno cheese balls. Not as spicy as the name would suggest, just bacony cheesy goodness! They have several locations (including one in Waukesha!) in the Milwaukee area, but this is the OG. Still open, limited capacity, masks required.
Our favorite custard place in the Milwaukee area! They also make a mean burger and fries. They have a couple other locations around town, but this is our local spot. This is a take out place with some areas to sit/stand outside. Still open, limited capacity, masks required.
Our first brewery we fell in love with. Located on the upper eastside, just blocks from our first apartment. Also has a location downtown across from the Bucks arena. Great food and better beer. Jalen enjoys the Reward DIPA and Lauren goes for their curry fries! Still open, limited capacity, masks required.
Another one of our favorite breweries! Located in beautiful Walker's Point, this brewery is known for their sours and crowd invented beers. You can submit ideas for beers on their website, and if they like it, they brew it! Still open, limited capacity, masks required.
