Jake and I love going paddle boarding at Brittingham Boats where Meriter Hospital picks up the bill for nurses to get out on the water! However, since that discount doesn't apply to everyone that knows our guy Jake, we recommend renting various water flotation devices at Lake Wingra which is more pretty and scenic and has a nice park space attached to toss a frisbee.
Live music, lots of beer or ice cream (pick ya poison!), and a beautiful view of Lake Mendota where the ducks know they will be well fed by all visitors! You can even rent an eBike and bike the Lakeshore Path that goes from the Terrace to Picnic Point to have a beautiful nature experience!
State Street will give you views of the Capitol building as you explore fun restaurants, bars, and stores! Flanked at either end, you'll see Lake Mendota by the Terrace and Lake Monona by the Capitol. A few miles to the East of State Street, Willy St and Atwood are Jake and Laur's neck of the woods! There's more stores, restaurants, and bars with less undergrads and more young adults and families. It's also a cute spot to walk through the neighborhoods where folks let wildflowers bloom and you can walk along Lake Monona! Monroe St, another area, is like that too, and can lead you to Lake Wingra, the Henry Vilas Zoo (which is free!), and the famous Camp Randall Stadium if you care about sports!
Flow through the crowd as the current of people takes you around the Capital, through all the smells and tastes of the Saturday morning Farmer's Market. You can walk here from many of the hotels in the area, including the one with our room block!
We've got breweries, comedy clubs, escape rooms, parks, bouncy houses, our cat Lewie, and Chocolate Shoppe ice cream (which you'll get at our wedding but who's to say you can't have it every day you're in town!) -- feel free to Google up some other things too! You'll certainly never get bored!
