LET'S PARTY

Our favorite thing to do is travel, and our favorite city by far is New Orleans, so we blocked off time in our busy schedules and booked a trip for Jazz Fest. We had visited a few time together before, and wanted to come back and see more of the city. We had planned a few things, which included delicious food, and live music. After spending our first night in New Orleans, Ian woke me up early to go for breakfast in Jackson Square before starting the day at the Fair Grounds. We grabbed cold brews from French Truck Coffee, and walked toward the square. Ian had booked a private Carriage Ride through the city, one of the most touristy and romantic things we had ever done in New Orleans. We were excited to learn more about the architecture and ghost stories. We met our driver Mike and mule Paul right on the corner of Decatur and St. Peter’s and we rode around The French Quarter, hearing stories of New Orleans and pointing out the best balconies on the streets. Little did I know Ian had an even grander plan. As we neared the end of our journey, Ian proposed in the sweetest of ways, surprising myself, our guide Mike and even Paul, who did a little dance in the street! They were the sweetest, most genuine words that I have ever heard. After saying “Yes!” and lots of happy tears, Mike took us to the best spots on the way back to Jackson Square to snap photos, including the cornstalk fence pictured below. We continued the weekend celebrating with family via FaceTime, and dancing our way through Jazz Fest and New Orleans. NOLA has always been special to us, but now it holds a very special place in our hearts.
