Fly into Rome, Milan or Perugia

These are all nearby international airports. The closest is Perugia, however often the most expensive. Flying into Rome or Milan may be the easiest and least expensive choice of flights. We encourage guests traveling from afar to fly into Rome or Milan and enjoy the city for a few days prior to joining us in Cittá di Castello!

Travel Details

By Car: From Florence it is 1.5 hours/Rome it is 2.5 hours drive to citta di castello. We suggest a car rental, it will be the best way to get around and see the sights. Generally, an American drivers license is sufficient but on rare occasions they may ask for an international drivers license which can be gotten on the same day through AAA. By Transit: You can then take a train from Florence/Rome to Arrezzo and then a bus or taxi (~50 euros) to citta di castello. Or from Rome there is an express bus directly to citta di castello. Other helpful details for planning your trip: We do have a shuttle to and from the wedding Saturday and brunch Sunday to downtown citta di castello (final address and timing will follow in an email close to the wedding). There are room blocks for other hotels in citta di castello please check the website for a link. A room the night of the wedding is on us and no charge to you if you would like to stay the night. Originally the hotel requested a list from with rooms assigned for guests for the night of the wedding. We did our best to put guests in the best rooms possible. But since we didn’t have RSVPs yet it may leave some guests in rooms that accommodate more guests than needed. If you are planning to stay more than the night of the wedding at borgo di celle and need a smaller room for those nights (as it may result a higher price per person) please let us know and we can see if adjustments to the room assignments is possible at that time. Otherwise, we do have other room blocks for hotels in Citta di castello and the surrounding area.

Car Rentals

THERE ARE NO UBERS/TAXIS IN CITTA DI CASTELLO Car rentals will be the best option for guests who will travel from Rome, Florence or Milan to Citta di Castello. Rentals are reasonably priced and allow you to travel freely throughout Italy. We suggest finding a group to organize inbound flights and a car rental to share. Rental cars are generally $40+ per day.

Borgo di Celle

Borgo di Celle is the hotel where we will be hosting the wedding. This is a functioning hotel and is available for guests to book. There are rooms available for the night of the wedding, Saturday July 23rd, 2022, the cost for that evening has been covered by us. If you would like to stay at the hotel the night of the wedding please let us know so we can add you to the list. There are only 23 rooms and is on a first come first serve basis for the evening. This 4-starboutique hotel is one of the oldest in Umbria (since 1895). It is housed in a former 17th century monastery and sits in a quaint square in the historic centre of Città di Castello.
