Only a few weeks after Greg moved to Los Angeles for work in the summer of 2016, both Lauren and Greg decided to go out to a fine Santa Monica establishment called The Victorian. Sometimes a three-level bar with a sweaty basement, other times a farmer’s market, wedding/funeral venue, this place truly has it all. After encountering a few people Lauren and the State of California deemed “too young” to be there, she was getting ready to leave. On her way out, she saw a tall, brown-haired guy in a black Space X shirt – the perfect candidate. After thinking through her pickup line options, she decided to tap him on the shoulder and go with "How old are you?". Initially taken aback by the question, Greg correctly answered an acceptable age and found himself smitten by Lauren’s hazel eyes and bubbly personality. They ended up chatting, exchanging numbers, and agreeing to meet up for drinks and ice cream. After four years, and LOTS of ice cream cookie sandwiches, Greg took Lauren to Santa Barbara for a weekend trip and proposed to her on the beach with a picnic for two. Although The Victorian was a strong contender to host their wedding, Lauren and Greg decided on Santa Cruz, it has a beach and trees, and therefore was the more mature option.
