Ersan presented Lauren with a gargantuan box on Christmas day during her family video call. Inside the box nested another box, and inside that, multiple smaller boxes. Each box came with a card and a snippet of poem, which was entitled "A Bluebird Alighted" (see below). When Lauren opened the final box, it was empty. Ersan then surprised her with a ring and the final line of the poem: "Will you marry me?"
Ersan and Lauren were married on a beautiful Spring day in her parents' lush backyard, opting for an intimate ceremony with immediate family. Sister-in-law Marisal officiated, brother Tyler orchestrated music, brother Okan manned video, sister-in-law Misty helped with decorations, niece Nesibe bore the rings, and parents ensured the couple and guests were hydrated and fed. Everyone steamed tablecloths for a long time. Following the ceremony, there were competitive lawn games accompanied by Spice Girls tunes. Otto, Dottie, and Kuma overslept and missed the wedding.
The newlyweds mini-mooned in Estes Park immediately after the wedding, and are planning a full honeymoon in the fall. Other hopes this year include buying their first home together and starting a family. If you'd like to contribute to their dreams, head over to the Registry page. Lauren & Ersan are filled with gratitude and love for all the wonderful people in their lives.
In nondescript glade Stood a worn cherry tree; His bark jagged and frayed Where a branch had torn free. One breezy spring, A bluebird alighted. At his blooms did she sing; In her song, he delighted. Thus a bond grew Between hearts filled with glee, Respect, love, Trust, and loyalty. With gusto she flew, And built a nest cheerily. When the breeze blew His leaves swayed carefree, And he stood tall and true; A brand new cherry tree. So he asked her, "My little Blue," Will you marry me?
