Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Lauren Buck and Dominik Damm
We HIGHLY recommend staying in Chicago for two nights if you can (Friday + Saturday). There is so much to see and do! Download the "Divvy" app before you come. Chicago has the best and most affordable bike share service. There's no better way to get around. Every recommendation below can be reached by bike. There is also a reliable train system, but likely not needed unless you're going up to Lincoln Park. We've shared up to our top six (6) options of each of the following categories: (1) Events (Activities) | (2) Coffee / Brunch | (3) Donuts | (4) Food (Lunch / Dinner) | (5) Drinks Tell us all about what you did when we see you! Scroll down - lots of notes in each one.

Event - River Boat Chicago Architecture Center

111 East Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60601
, (312) 922-8687

Right outside the hotel - cruise on a barge around the canal, learning about the history of Chicago. Right there on the river walk, you should absolutely wander up and down after the cruise. See how much you can point out after!

Event - Lincoln Park Zoo

2001 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60614
, (312) 742-2000

FREE, huge zoo. Gorillas, Rhinos, Camels. Check out the Lincoln Park Conservatory while there - see how many dinosaurs you can find! For the little ones, the Farm in the Zoo has petting area. Lincoln Park is huge, surrounding the zoo, stroll and see!

Event - The Second City

230 West North Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614
, (312) 662-4562

The feeder comedy club for Saturday Night Live! It's the best live show in the city, right on Wells street in Old Town - a great area for nightlife / restaurants. If you don't see a show you like, check out other great options: IO Theater, Zanies, Laugh Factory.

Event - The Art Institute of Chicago

111 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603
, (312) 443-3600

Chicago has so many world-class museums... but this steals the show! Hours can be spent wandering the halls, discussing the... well we never really know what to discuss, but dang-it culture! Be sure to check out the gardens and wander Millennium Park after. If not art, the Field Museum (natural history), Shedd Aquarium, or the Planetarium (space) are all so worth it.

Coffee - Intelligentsia Coffee Millennium Park Coffeebar

53 East Randolph Street, Chicago, IL 60601
, (312) 920-9332

World famous. Best coffee ever.

Brunch - Siena Tavern

51 West Kinzie Street, Chicago, IL 60654
, (312) 595-1322

Ask any of the bridesmaids, this is the spot. Breakfast pizza and pasta at 11 AM cannot be beaten.

Drinks - City Winery at the Chicago Riverwalk

11 W. Riverwalk South, Chicago, IL 60601
, (312) 229-5593

Glass of wine on the river. Great people watching

Drinks - Headquarters Beercade

213 West Institute Place, Chicago, IL 60610
, (312) 291-8735

Huge arcade bar with a large local tap selection. Great spot to hangout as a group

Drinks - Cindy's Rooftop

12 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603
, (312) 792-3502

Rooftop, best views of Millennium Park. Inside the historic Chicago Athletic Association Hotel. Highly encourage 2nd floor to check out old billiards hall through library

Drinks - Highline

169 W Kinzie St, Chicago, IL 60654
, (312) 533-2742

Sportsbar with lots of TVs. Arcade in the back as a bonus. Can get loud, but great spot for a game.

Food - Au Cheval

800 West Randolph Street, Chicago, IL 60607
, (312) 929-4580

THE BEST BURGER IN THE WORLD. First come, first serve, plan on at least one hour wait, There are plenty of bars around (Cira @ the Hoxton; Lone Wolf; Fox Bar @ SoHo), kill time, wait is worth it.

Food - Piccolo Sogno

464 North Halsted Street, Chicago, IL 60642
, (312) 421-0077

Amazing Italian food. Great patio, ambiance is laughter. Chicago locals favorite. Richard's (down the block) is the only bar in the city you can smoke indoors... Stop in to rub shoulders with the mafia and throw back some Jeppson's Malort.

Food - Untitled Supper Club

111 W Kinzie St, Chicago, IL 60654
, (312) 880-1511

Underground (huge) 1920s supper club. Great American fare. Dinner and a show. One of the best bars in Chicago for before or after in the same club.

Food - Maple & Ash

8 West Maple Street, Chicago, IL 60610
, (312) 944-8888

Steakhouse. Swanky, sexy. Right in the heart of the Viagra triangle. Suit jacket and heels recommended.

Food - Ranalli's

1925 North Lincoln Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614
, (312) 642-4700

Thin, tavern style pizza. Our favorite patio in Chicago. Great spot to ride Divvy bikes up the lakefront then park for lunch.

Food - sweetgreen

150 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60601
, (312) 471-0300

Massive, amazing salads. Counter-serve, great to grab and go eat in Millennium Park by The CloudGate (Bean)

Donuts - Do-Rite Donuts & Coffee

50 West Randolph Street, Chicago, IL 60601
, (312) 488-2483

Red-velvet cake or the chocolate old fashioned

Donuts - Stan's Donuts & Coffee

181 Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60601
, (312) 729-5480

The most unique selection. These are craft donuts - not your Amish bakery.

Bakery - Goddess and the Baker, Wabash

33 South Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603
, (312) 877-5176

Most amazing bakery within walking distance of the hotel. Try your best to avoid the rainbow cake...

For all the days along the way
