On September 26th, 2015, Lauren decided to go down to Charleston for a CSU/Citadel game with her friend (now bridesmaid,) Abigail. After the game, she and Abigail were to meet up with their mutual friend from high school, Wes Jeffcoat, a cadet at the Citadel. Dillon (a classmate with Wes,) was invited by Wes to go to dinner after the game, but at first declined. On second thought, he decided to tag along... :) The moment Lauren saw Dillon, she was smitten (yes, love at first sight is real). Little did she know, so was he. Not long after facetiming every free moment, they started officially dating. After almost two years of amazing dates and memories, Dillon (though he still loved Lauren,) made the tough decision to break up as he did not feel that he was the man at that time that Lauren needed and was unsure of his path in life. Fast forward 6 years following a move to Charlotte for Lauren, enlistment in the Army for Dillon and other life changes for the both of them.......Dillon spoke to his mom about Lauren and how much he still loved her. Yet, he was unsure if she would want to speak to him. Michelle spoke with Sharon about that conversation and the rest, as they say, is history. Sharon passed along to Lauren the message that Dillon was interested in speaking to Lauren, and Lauren responded that she was interested in hearing from him. At that time, Dillon was stationed in Poland, 6 hours ahead of Lauren in Charlotte. With concerted effort, they made time to talk and catch up when able and officially began dating again 4 months after reconnecting. A year and a half later in November of 2024, Lauren said yes to Dillon's proposal! They always felt they were meant to be together; they just weren't aware of the timing or the logistics - but God was! “The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him…..” Psalm 37:23
