Darrick and I were introduced accidently by our mutual friend Sergio. It was the week before Halloween 2016 and Sergio came in to get his haircut at my shop. Although Sergio wasn’t my client, we were friendly and always talked when he came in. This time was different, because he walked in with Darrick who was recently back from a 6 month military deployment to Honduras. Darrick sat down in the waiting area while Sergio was getting his haircut by his regular stylist. I felt an instant attraction to him. I got a little excited because he was next in line to get his haircut, and I figured I would get a chance to talk to him. Sadly, Darrick was only waiting for Sergio and not there for a haircut. As soon as Sergio paid, and was walking out with Darrick, I asked his stylist who Sergio’s cute friend was? After a few short text exchanges between them, Darrick and I essentially had a blind date set up for a few days later. Needless to say, that first date checked all the cliché boxes. Over several adult beverages at a local tavern, the conversation flowed effortlessly and took us well past the restaurant’s closing time. Our date even ended with a kiss in the rain, at night in the streets of downtown Roseville. And the rest is history… Lauren and Darrick want to say thank you everyone who has been here for them during their relationship journey, past, present and in the future.
