Engagement Video

How he proposed.

Crowds and loud mouths...

Here's a breakdown of the video above... Lauren had been dying to see Anberlin in concert during their 3 day residency in Orlando and Danny just knew he needed to make it happen even with it falling on his birthday weekend. So he convinced her to let him get the tickets so she could see them for the 26, 27, and 28th time. On January 27 (during the 2nd of 3 shows and Lauren's 27th time seeing them) they played "Inevitable" the song that Lauren and Danny had chosen to be their first dance song. At the end of the song Danny shouts out, "that's gonna be our first dance song." (they missed this part in the video) that comment led the lead singer, Stephen Christian, to say, "are you engaged?" at that point Danny responds with no and the teasing ensued. But, then, Stephen offered for us to come up on stage so Danny could propose. Danny who's no stranger to being the center of attention (and loves it) took him up on the offer while Lauren who enjoys being behind the scenes worked up the courage to join Danny on stage. They walked up on stage and Danny got down on one knee after reminding her he didn't have a ring... and asked Lauren to marry him. Lauren of course said yes and was simultaneously so excited and embarrassed she couldn't stop laughing so hard she was almost crying. After a round of hugs from the band the audience sang Danny happy birthday! After the show Lauren asked Danny if he'd hoped for that outcome and he said "no, but all I kept thinking about was what a missed opportunity because during that song would have been the perfect moment." It all worked out perfectly and the rest as they say is history.

How we met

Nerds Unite!

The first time Lauren spoke to Danny at The Collective: a Comic and Game Shop she approached him and asked him where she should start if she wanted to get into Firefly because they guy she was dating at the time had introduced her to all things Firefly. Danny introduced her to another customer who just happened to be in the store that day who also loved Firefly and the three of them struck up an hour and a half long conversation. Lauren also ended up borrowing the store's copy of the Firefly game which she promptly returned the following week. When Danny asked if she enjoyed playing the game she awkwardly had to explain they broke up so they hadn't actually played. He vowed to play the game with her which ironically still hasn't happened even though they regularly host game night at their home each Sunday. Over the coming months Lauren would come into The Collective and always seek Danny out. She enjoyed chatting with him and getting to know him as a friend. Just as he was gathering up the courage to ask her out she walked in the store super excited to tell him all about her new boyfriend. As you've probably guessed that relationship also crashed and burned. Fast forward a year and a half after that first meeting, Lauren is a regular customer who helps around the store in her free time just to have an excuse to hang out with Danny and a few other friends she'd made at the store. After multiple group outings Lauren and Danny found themselves walking in downtown Sanford guessing if their two friends liked each other. As they made their way down to the pier they sat with their legs dangling over the side commiserating on how terrible online dating is. When Danny listed off the dating apps he was on Lauren said, "huh, I haven't seen you on any, if I had I would have swiped right" (in case you aren't familiar swiping right means you want to match with the other person.) Danny couldn't believe Lauren liked him after he'd had a crush on her for a year and a half. They had their first kiss that night, stayed up all night talking and excitedly planned their next date which would take place at Cloak and Blaster and would start Lauren's almost year long reign as board game champion.
