Anyone that knows us know we love our sports. Whether it’s cheering on Auburn & LSU or cheering the Red Sox & the Astros. It’s been a love of ours since we were both kids. Our story is truly one of Gods timing and how every decision, no matter how small, can change our life completely and definitely shows just how truly small the world is. The story of how we met is a combination of our love of sports and being set up on a blind date by a mutual friend. My best friend Carly and her husband had bought tickets to the World Series hoping the Braves would make it in….well they didnt and unfortunately for them they needed to sell the tickets. Carly reached out to me to see if I would post the tickets in hopes of them selling. Thankfully a sorority sister of mine from college (Alecia) saw the post and reached out to her friend she thought might want them…thankfully that friend was Danny. When she told him about the tickets she also said, “hey why don’t you talk to her about more than just baseball”. With hesitation on both sides we are both so thankful we decided to go on that blind date that truly changed our lives.
One of our big bucket list items for 2021 was to see the Red Sox play at Fenway Park. Boston has always held a special place in my heart and this was somewhere I wanted to share that experience with Danny. After a cancelled couples trip we decided to switch our plans and go to Boston to have a fun weekend together. I had planned to show him some of my favorite places as well as take him to his first Red Sox game. Little did I know that Danny had been planning to propose that same weekend. On the first day of our vacation we had a sunset cruise planned at 5:30 and dinner at one of my favorite places afterwards. One of the locations I wanted to show him was the Boston Public Gardens and so we decided to go before our cruise. Danny is very much a planner so him having us on a schedule was nothing new to me and one of the reasons we travel so well together. The events of that day are actually quite hysterical and too long to write out but we will be happy to share if you call and ask. Let’s just say my love of walking around and my love of magnets almost ruined his plan. As we were walking through the Gardens Danny started to explain how much our relationship meant to him and recited a verse from first Peter before dropping down to one knee and proposing. It was truly the most wonderful day and we spent the afternoon and evening just the two of us before telling family and friends the next day. I truly could not have picked a more perfect place for Danny to propose. Boston will always hold a very special place in our hearts!
