Many of you have championed our journey to marriage through prayer, financial support, and uplifting words... but, unfortunately, due to the CDC restrictions preventing groups larger than fifty to gather during the next eight weeks, we will not be going forward with our original wedding plan in Atlanta on April 25th. Instead, we plan to tie the knot with a small, intimate gathering of our immediate family and closest friends in Clinton's hometown in Ohio on May 23, 2020. Although our wedding plans aren't going exactly as we would like, we are still very excited to get married next month and to celebrate with you all soon! We don't feel boggled down by fear or by the circumstances that surround us. We feel a special invitation to grow in our fellowship with God and with each other as we approach our big day and we invite you all to continue supporting us through prayer and encouragement!
Lauren and Clinton met while worship leading together at the International House of Prayer in Atlanta. Though there were no initial sparks, they developed quite the friendship- especially when they both decided to take the step to turn away from worldly successes and pursue foreign ministry. For Clinton, that was deciding not to go into corporate America and continue on with higher education despite a full ride. For Lauren, that was making the choice to step away from entrepreneurship and being a personal chef and event host. For 6 months, they participated in a ministry training school where they got to travel all over America and the Middle East, creating rich history with the Lord... and each other. Eventually, they realized that while they were both so focused on building the kingdom of God, they had actually built a pretty strong love for each other. So, while in North Africa, Clinton got on one knee (after tricking Lauren into thinking she was having a mini-photo shoot with friends!!) and proposed. Lauren, comically suspicious, said "Is this a joke?" LOL. Anyway, the rest is history. Through a whirlwind of a year, traveling, worship leading, having adventures with God and each other, Lauren and Clinton will be getting married April 25, 2020! No corona virus is gonna stop their show.
"Running around the Middle East, one random weekday night.... earlier we had gone to an arabic language class and made fast friends with one of the students. We ended up all going out for sushi and talked about God long into the night. Afterwards, we just stood in the middle of the street and prayed with so much excitement and joy. We couldn’t believe that this is the type of life we get to live. We thanked God for the opportunity to make a new friend and pleaded for God to encounter him and show him His love for him. This was the moment I realized, this is my best friend and this is definitely someone I can do life with forever. " -Lauren
"She's definitely better than me. Lauren is the best gift that I could ever receive- not just because she's the best chef, she's poised... regal..FUNNY. And she makes me better. I love you the most apostle Lo.” -Clinton James
